Email Errors
In this tutorial we will go over a couple common email errors and solutions.
Error Message
There was a problem logging onto your mail server. Your Password was rejected. Account: 'Acount Name', Server: 'Server Name or IP', Protocol: POP3, Server Response: '-ERR Unable to log on', Port: 110, Secure(SSL): No, Server Error: 0x800CCC90, Error Number: 0x800CCC92
Solution :
Name sure you are using the proper, domain or Ip for your incoming (POP3) and outgoing (SMTP) servers. The username on our servers is your FULL email address.
Problem
Unable to logon to the server using Secure Password Authentication. Account: 'Account Name', Server: 'Server Name or IP', Protocol: POP3, Server Response: '-ERR Unknown command', Port: 110, Secure(SSL): No, Server Error: 0x800CCC90, Error Number: 0x800CCC18
Solution
The incorrect box was checked during setup. You will need to uncheck the "Logon using Secure Password Authentication" box.
Problem
The message could not be sent because one of the recipients was rejected by the server. The rejected e-mail address was 'email@anotherdomain.com'. Subject 'Your subject', Account: 'Account Name', Server: 'Server Name or IP', Protocol: SMTP, Server Response: '503 This mail server requires authentication. Please check your mail client settings.', Port: 25, Secure(SSL): No, Server Error: 503, Error Number: 0x800CCC79
Solution
Check the box next to "My Server Requires Authentication".
Problem
The connection to the server has failed. Account: 'Account Name', Server: 'Server name or IP, Protocol: SMTP, Port: ##, Secure(SSL): No, Socket Error: 10060, Error Number: 0x800CCC0E
Solution This problem can be caused several ways.
- The SMTP port needs to be set to 25.
- The POP3 port needs to be set to 110.
- Make sure you are online.
- Make sure you dont have a Windows or Norton Firewall installed and blocking the ports.
- Most DSL carriers block port 25. You will need to use their email server for sending email.
Problem
The message could not be sent because the server rejected the sender's e-mail address. The sender's e-mail address was 'user@domain.com'. Subject 'Your subject', Account: 'Account Name', Server: 'Server Name or IP', Protocol: SMTP, Server Response: '551 Sender address is not valid for your login. Check your email program settings.', Port: 25, Secure(SSL): No, Server Error: 551, Error Number: 0x800CCC78
Solution
Contact support@desiant.com . Your email setting will need to be reset.
